Apex Motorsport, led by Richard Lloyd, are delighted to present the first images of the recently announced Jaguar XKR GT3 race car. Richard assembled an experienced team to develop the XKR, led by team manager Dave Ward, who had just returned from a two year stint in Australia leading a top V8 team.

Dave joined another former Apex team member, Howden Haynes, who was responsible for all the design and development work.

Work at Buckingham Race Shop progressed rapidly with the development of the first XKR chassis, nearly complete with roll cage, and as Dave said, "The basic all-aluminum chassis was already so stiff that we are confident that with the addition of a roll cage, it will be best in class."

Stuart Dyble, Jaguar board member and vice president of communications and public affairs, Premier Automotive Group and Ford Europe: “There has been a lot of buzz around the launch of the XKR and GT3 programme, which will further enhance the sporting qualities of the XK . series. The XKR is undeniably a great car and we're delighted Apex shares our opinion that its lightweight bodywork is the perfect platform for the range. We were really looking forward to seeing the car behind the wheel for the first time."

The experimental car is due to be tested in December before moving on to official FIA testing early next year.

Already in its first year, the FIA GT3 European Championship has generated great interest from teams and drivers, and even more success is expected in 2007 with six championship races scheduled and the first non-championship event supporting the Grand Prix of 'Australia . in March.

Lloyd and his business partner Harry Handkammer are currently negotiating with a number of teams interested in racing GT3 next year and are delighted with the great interest this exciting project has generated.
