2011 Mitsubishi Pajero, New Appearance

The Pajero is off-road and a legend in itself. It was overhauled in 2007 with a new interior and could be had with three- or five-door body style doors. Since 2010, the optional 3.5-liter V6 powertrain is mated to a 4-speed automatic or the 3.8-liter V6 engine is mated to a 5-speed automatic. The standard ActiveTrac package includes rear-wheel drive, permanent four-wheel drive, and high- and low-range four-wheel drive with a locking center differential.

The three-door, short-wheelbase Pajero seats five passengers, and the long-wheelbase model seats seven, with the third row of seats folded into the compartment in the trunk or completely removed. Standard features include an RV gauge that shows outside temperature, time, date, compass, pressure, altitude and service intervals. Also standard are a 6-speaker radio cassette player, automatic climate control, dual front airbags, keyless entry, power windows and mirrors, and 16-inch alloy wheels. Higher models get a 6-disc CD changer, wood interior, sunroof, front and rear automatic air conditioning, traction control, ABS with EBD, cruise control, cooling, leather seats and 17-inch wheels. Only the luxury 3.8 model has side airbags as standard.

The 2011 Pajero 2.5 gets a new VG turbo engine that is said to be more powerful and efficient. The 4D56 turbo diesel is a 2,500cc diesel variant that produces 178bhp at 4,000rpm and 350Nm of torque at 1,800-3,500rpm. Mitsubishi Motors Thailand claims to be the most powerful Thai engine. In fact, this engine is more powerful than the Pajero Sport sold in Indonesia.

“To create a highly efficient and more environmentally friendly car, Mitsubishi Motors Corporation decided to reduce the capacity of the car. We discontinued the car and focused on the 3200 cc 2500 cc engines with advanced technology for the Sport Pajero and Triton,” said MMTh President Nobuyuki Murahashi.

For comparison, Pajero Sport engine sold in Indonesia, 4D56, DOHC, Common Rail turbocharged air-cooled, 4-cylinder, 2500 cc, 136 hp and 314 Nm of torque.
